The French Revolution (Blog #10)

The causes of the French Revolution surround two main areas of interest. Those two areas include social and economic inequalities in the Old Regime.

Your Assignment:

1). Name the three social classes present in France during the late 18th and early 19th century.
2). Explain what groups of people made up each of these classes.
3). State reasons why the classes, and the discord among some, helped lead to the French Revolution.

The three social classes or estates, were the people of France. Two of the estates had privileges, and the other didn't

The third estate was made up of the middle class, bankers factory workers, merchants and others.

They split for different freedoms, and did so to help the revolution in one way or another.

1) One was the Privileged Estates. Another one was the The Third Estate.

2) The higher class, and the lower class, thats pretty much it. There wasn't a middle class.

3) They didn't like the classes, and they wanted to revolt against it. Thats why.

1. The three social classes were the first estate, the second estate and the third estate.
2. The first estate consisted of clergy of the Roman Catholic Church, the second estate was made up of rich nobles and the third estate was made up of bourgeoisie, urban lower class and peasant farmers.
3. The lower classes were already ticked because they had to pay all the taxes and then when the enlightenment introduced new government ways on top of serious economic problems with weak leadership it pushed the people to the edge and they did something about it.

1.) 2 of the estates had privliges, including acess to high offices and exemtions from paying taxes that were not granted to members of the 3rd.
2.) The first & second was made up of high class people but the third estate was made up of about 97% of the people.
3.) Some reasons were because the high classes got more priviliges then the rest and it was unfair so the y wanted to stop it!!

They embraced enlightenement ideas and resented the wealthy First and Second estates.

3. The 3rd estate believed in the new Enlightenment ideas about authority and government. The nobles and other two estates did not. The thrid estate was inspired by the success of the American Revolution. The 3rd estate maid up 97% of the population and paid 50% of the income paid by taxes on them. Even if they were wealthy they were taxed heavily and lacked many priviledges.

The three estates of people was divided by there privileges. The first estate were Roman Catholic Clergy. Next were the nobles and the last estate was the middle class, the poor, and the peasants.

The first class was the Catholic clergy who provided education and relief to the poor. The nobles were rich and loved power. The last class was formed by the middle class who worked and payed taxes. This class included the poor. Last in the third estate was the peasants who payed the most taxes.

Some classes were treated better then others. Some got special treatment cause they were rich. This lead to a revolt for everybody to be free and have there own rights.

1&2)Clergy of the Roman Catholic Church formed the first estate, or social and political class. The second estate was made up of rich nobles. The third and final estate was made up of three groups that differed greatly in there economic conditions, the first group was the bourgeisie, or middle class-such as bankers factory onwers, mechants, and skilled artisans. The second group was the workers of France's cities. The third group was peasants.

3)The third estate wanted more power, so they suggested that they get to form laws and reforms in the name of French people.

1) One was the Privileged Estates. These people had privileges (hence the name), such as access to high offices and exemptions from taxes. These two privileged estates were both the First and Seond estates. The Third Estate was where about 97% of the people belonged. This is where the middle class resided along with many peasants. This estate did not have privileges.

2) The Roman Catholic Church formed the First Estate. The Second was made up of rich nobles. The third was made up of the middle class -- bankers, factory owners, merchants, professionals, and skilled artisans -- along with the workers of France cities such as tradespeople, apprentices, laborers and domestic servants. Peasants formed the largest group of the Third Estate.

3) Many people were getting tired of being treated differently. Some people got treated like royalty. Others got treated so-so and yet others were treated like dirt. Everyone wanted to be treated equally. The lower classes always had to pay all the taxes and the rich class didn't have to. They wanted more freedoms.
