Directly above this weeks Blog is a new widget I placed on our Blog page. It is called a newsreel. This newsreel searches the web for stories pertaining to the topic of your choosing. I chose to search for World History and Cultural History.
Also, notice to the right hand side is a poll widget. This widget can be added and a poll questions can be posed.
The last widget you will notice is the "Follow by Email" widget. This allows you to follow the Blogs and get updates regarding new assignments, etc.
Your Assignment:
1) Pick out one of the topics scrolling along the top in the Newsreel and read that article giving a brief summary of the article and your opinions/thoughts on that article.
2) Make sure and vote on the poll questions regarding your EFFORT on the blogs throughout the year.

1. I chose the World’s Most Impressive Rube Goldberg Machine Explains World’s History. The Impressive Rube Goldenberg Machine broke a world record and it only takes 244 steps. It’s the best dorkiest thing you will see during this or any other April. You’re about to be astounded that somehow a Rube Goldberg machine can make you afraid for a second that we might not win World War II, but then make you feel comforted that there will be life after the Apocalypse. And I honestly have no idea what it does yet.

1. i chose the royal wedding. the main questioin is that how are they going to rule. are they going to change the way of ruling. how will they inpact their country.
The article i clicked on talked about "How to find common ground with a teen." it was about a step mother complaining about her step kid. She said that she hesitates to indulge in the pop-culture conversation that her step child talks about, partly because she is unfamiliar with it.

Syrian security forces opened fire on a demonstration Friday in the coastal city of Latakia -- the heartland of the ruling elite -- wounding at least five people as thousands took to the streets in several places across the country, witnesses said. The people had gathered there for an anti-government rally when men with guns opened fire on the crowd and wounded several people but killing no one. I think that this violates the rights that these people have. They have a right to protest government and it was not necessary to open fire on them.
I picked the Royal wedding one and it talked about how both sides of the family were excited for the wedding to go down. Also talked about how much money went in to it and how special it was for the people that live there.
This article started with a question from a worried step-mother. She couldn't get her step-daughter to talk to her because she spoke in one-worded anwers or ignored her all the time. The answer is to try and find what interests her. Whatever motivates her will keep her away from the monosyllables as well. I think this was a great idea because the step-mother is only closing her mind to what her step-daughter might think is fun, like Youtube and Facebook and everything. If you can't stand pop culture then she obviously has a closed-off mind. That gets in the way of any relationship especially one that is just starting.
1. I read about weddings for the history book. I can't believe that there are not that many famous historalicala weddings. Most of them are in other countries. The top 7 weddings were no where near the united states.Albert and Victoria in 7th. Napoleon and Josephine in 6th.Peter III and Catherine in 5th. Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal in 4th. Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn in 3rd. With Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine in 2nd. And finally Mark Antony and Cleopatra at 1st.
1.) I choose the article about the weddeing of William and Kate. the articles talked about many past weddings. Mark Antony and Cleopatra,Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine,Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn,Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, Peter III and Catherine, Napoleon and Josephine, and Albert and Victoria.
In Syria, security forces fired shots at protestors. About five people were wounded of the thousands that were flooding the streets. Also, the people are afraid of leaving their homes because there are snipers that will shoot them. This just shows how unstable this country is. The people are trying to flee the city to safety but they are unable due to the violence of the officials. I think that there will be a major event to occur there in the near future.
Friday, a Syrian security force opened fire on some protesters as they started a demonstration. Of the thousands of protesters only five people were wounded. And no one was killed. To me, this doesn't seem like news. People in Syria get shot almost everyday, and most of them die. But if a security force does it, IT MAKES THE NEWS!!!
1.)This stepmom is tring to relate to her teenager and has nothing in common and the mom doesn't have any love for pop culture and just wants to talk about school and how everthing is going in that area and to me this is not right the teen should try to talk to her mom and not ignore her and also the mom should lightin up on the school questions and realise that teens don't want to talk about school and whatever else is school related. Also the mom and teen should try to do more activites together and not with others they are use to doing things together with.
.the story I picked is about a stink bug that was somehow brout over by one of the european countries. the bug has little or no predators and is a real problem to farmers for the bug sucks the juice out from the plants to survive.it started in pensylvania and made its way all the whay to ohio. the people who study plants says that it will ealily make its way all the way to the mid states and maybe even farther.
1) I read about William and Kate's wedding. They talked about wondering if the wedding is really something that could be in history or just a entertainment for no reason. I think that the wedding was too much talked about, i don't think that it needed to be such a big deal. They talked about seven different most famous marriages in world history. some of the people were, Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.

I read the Madrid vs Barcelona topic. It was about how the two towns are going against eachother in something that they call a cultural battle. But the down fall is that the Catalins are losing. So therefore the Catalins were chosing to win but they really arn't.
