1. MUSTARD GAS was the most deadly weapon used. It was fired into the trenches in shells. It is colourless and takes 12 hours to take effect. Effects include: blistering skin, vomiting, sore eyes, internal and external bleeding. Death can take up to 5 weeks.
2. The ZEPPELIN, also known as blimp, was an airship that was used during the early part of the war in bombing raids by the Germans. They carried machine guns and bombs. However, they were abandoned because they were easy to shoot out of the sky.
3. PLANES were also used for the first time. At first they were used to deliver bombs and for spying work but became fighter aircraft armed with machine guns, bombs and some times cannons. Fights between two planes in the sky became known as 'dogfights'

1. In WWI Infantry weapons used by major powers were mainly bolt action rifles, capable of firing ten or more rounds per minute. German soldiers carried 7.92mm Gewehr 98 Mauser rifles, good for accuracy and speed.The British carried the famous Lee-Enfield rifle. Rifles with telescopic sights were used for snipers, which were first used by the Germans. Machine guns were also used by the large powers; a favorite was the Maxim gun, created by Hiram Maxim, a fully automatic weapon, with a high volume of concentrated fire. The machine gun was useful in stationary battle but was not practical for easy movement through battlefields, and was therefore often dragged or disarmed and carried.
1.) Rifles - The main weapon used by British soldiers in the trenches was the bolt-action rifle. 15 rounds could be fired in a minute and a person 1,400 metres away could be killed.
2.)Torpedoes - Torpedoes were used by submarines. The Germans used torpedoes to blow up ships carrying supplies from America to Britain. The Germans torpedoed the passenger liner Lusitania on May 1st 1915 which sank with a loss of 1,195 lives.
3.)Tank - The more modern tank was not developed until just before the end of the war. It could carry 10 men, had a revolving turret and could reach 4mph.
Poison Gas - choked soldiers without masks to death.

1.) Machine guns had an affect because it fired ammunition quicker. Tanks helped because people hid inside and didn't get shot. Submarines helped because they had something that normal ships didn't (torpidos)
The Machine guns made a big impact on how many people died. Also the tanks and mustard gas because thanks to those more people died.

Machine gun, was made to fire ammunition automatically, was much improved by the World War I It could wipe out waves of attackers which made the other side more difficult to fight back.
Tank, was an amored combat vehicle that moved on chain tracks so it could cross many types of terrain.
Submarine, it's primary weapon against ships was the torpedo or an underwater missile.
1) The Pistol: Unlike in previous wars, where the common side arm was usually a 6 round revolver. WW1 helped introduce the mass production of the Semi-Automatic Pistol. This revolutionized weapon could hold more rounds and fire quicker. It was used as the main side arm of almost all military Officers and eventually became used in the future in every war since.
2) Grenades: Never used before in any major war, the grenade is another product of the first World War. Fragmentation grenades were introduced into the war by the Germans. Again, the hand grenade is still used today, even though there are many variations to them now.
3) Trench Mortars: Trench mortars were derived from its ancient ancestor but brought back to WW1. It allowed soldiers to mobilize their small artillery and able to launch it from trench to trench at enemies. Again, we still use these today but not as much. The war in Vietnam was one where they were used a lot due to the harch terrain and little space for artillery guns without getting too many casualties.
gas. the gas caused blindness and caused people to choke to death. the prevent this, they wore masks so they would not be affected. the bad thing about this is that you had to get the gas to the enemy without being shot. you had to close the distance alot more than a rifle.
machine gun. this was a very effective weapon. it could shoot automaticly and could take out more people at one time. it didn't take as long to load the next round to be fired. the bad thing about this gun is that it didn't do much for damage. it could sometimes be heavy to carry also.
tank. this was a very effective weapon. its massive ammunition could take out many people at one time. the bad thing about this was that it took longer to reload than the machine gun. the good thing about the tank is that it was heavily armoured and could protect the soldiers inside. another bad thing is that it wasnt very fast at all. people could easily catch up with it.
1.The Machine Guns main advantage was the fact it could kill a enemy in 1 second.It was also hard to hide an active machine gun from the enemy. Even when the gun is well dug in, with lots of sand bags around the position, it will be fired on a lot.
