The quest among European nations for greater power played a role in causing World War I. By the end of the 20th century, relations among these countries had grown increasingly tense. In Europe, military buildup, nationalistic feelings, and rival alliances set the stage for a continental war. Ethnic conflict in the Balkan region, which helped start the war, continued to erupt in that area in the 1990's.

1) Imperialism is when a powerful nation begins to colonize and take over other countries/provinces for natural resources, or strategic locations. Militarism is when countries support military power and start manufacturing and keeping an army ready for war.
2) Countries taking over other countries and preparing their armies to do so. This will cause a conflict between the Attackers and Defenders and cause a war most definitely.
3) That it tells other countries that they have an army ready to go to war. Which will cause others to do the same. Eventually the two lines will cross creating a war.

3. My opion is that militarism is fine for certain countries. And not good for others. Some countries can handle being prepared and have enough money to support their plans, while other countries can't always keep up with their army. Also they may not have enough money to keep everyone happy.
